Kruzenshtern and Sedov sailing schedules for 2019 have been revealed

01.15.2019 04:25:30 pm
Sedov is planning to do three voyages this year starting March. The first one is going to be 100th in ship’s history and is going to include Bremerhaven (Germany) and Tallinn (Estonia). Kruzenshtern is expected to do two voyages starting a bit later, on April the 4th. The barque plans to call in ports of Canary Islands and Hamburg (Germany) where Sedov is expected to join. After that the two of the biggest sail training ships are going to call in ports of France. Rouen is hosting L’Armada 2019 festival — one of the largest and most celebrated marine festivals in Europe, while Bordeaux is hosting the wine festival.

After years of restless working both sail training ships have received approval from the government for renovation and technical re-equipment. This year both vessels are going to skip sailing races and regattas and plan to end this year’s navigation earlier than usual. Kruzenshtern is finishing sailing in July, while Sedov is planning to come back to Kaliningrad (Russia) in August.

Sedov is going to have her rigging inspected, and is going to get her masts reconstructed which would allow the sailing ship to enter the port of Kaliningrad. Kruzenshtern is going to have her engines, an emergency diesel generator, desalination plants and digestive boilers replaced.

In 2019-2020 both vessels are going to take part in massive expeditions dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and 200th anniversary of Russian sailors discovering Antarctica. More info coming soon.
